This year’s Premier league is going to be more open a title race than previously predicted.
Three of the top teams only achieved one point, it’s Arsenal that look like the most settled team with a very strong start and making the most of the fixtures they have started with. Their free flowing blend of football is paying dividends with goals galore.
Man City showed off in front of the new owner with a 6-0 demolition of Portsmouth. It might be a tall order for them to take the title this year but watch out next year!
News of a possible Nigerian take over for Newcastle will be most welcome to the long suffering supporters, don’t be surprised if Kevin Keegan is back again as manager.
Tottenham are still propping up the foot of the table and together with Newcastle need to get a win under their belts. As with the top where it’s now possibly four or five teams fighting it out, the bottom of the table looks like being the same. New boys Stoke, Hull and West Brom won’t be the push overs that Derby County was last year.
Looking forward to this week’s fixtures then, the big one is Everton against Liverpool. It’s a must win for Liverpool especially as their main rivals have probable wins. Tottenham and Newcastle have tough games but expect Newcastle to bounce back if they have good news on the ownership front.
